Hyatt Regency Vancouver is seeking an experienced, professional and customer service oriented individual to join the Leadership Committee as Director of Operations.
As a member of the properties Leadership Committee, the Director of Operations is a highly visible role with exposure to Senior and Corporate leadership. In this role you will report directly to the General Manager and will be responsible for the smooth and efficient running of the Rooms and Food & Beverage Operations of the hotel, aligned to deliver the Hyatt Regency brand experiences and standards. The responsibilities include overseeing the entire Operations function. You will function as Business Manager for all the Food & Beverage outlets, as well as Rooms Division, in specific Front Office, Concierge, Regency club Concierge, Guest Services, Valet, and Security. Your role is to ensure that all operations operate successfully, in accordance with the standard of the hotel and are individually profitable. In the absence of the General Manager you will take responsibility for the operation of the hotel. Duties may also include but not limited to the following : * Responsible for short and long term planning and the management of the Food and Beverage and Rooms operations in the front and back of the house * Develop and recommend the budget, marketing plans and objectives and manages within those approved plans * Participate in total hotel management as a member of the Hotel Executive Committee * Implement and maintain F&B and Rooms sales/marketing programs * Direct and oversee development of employees * Hire, train, empower, coach and counsel, performance and salary reviews * Direct the implementation of the payroll, reports, forecasts, inventory and budget for food and beverage operations * Coordinate F&B and Rooms operations with other hotel departments to ensure efficient guest service * Resolve customer complaints as appropriate to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and quality * Implement procedures to increase guest and associate satisfaction * Exercise quality control for both food and beverage and rooms * Maintaining Hyatt standards of service and ensure their implementation * Performing daily walk-through to ensure full compliance with Department of Health regulations and Hyatt Corporate standards * Maintain communications with Corporate Staff * Coach and counsel employees to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures At Hyatt we care for people to be their best -- that is our purpose and we are guided by our values of Respect, Integrity, Humility, Empathy, Creativity and Fun. Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
- Must possess a true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast paced environment.
- Candidate must have at least 2-3 years past experience in a Director of Rooms and Director of Food and Beverage role in a comparable hotel
- As one of the key leaders in the hotel, the Director of Operations needs to balance business acumen with people management skills and technical skills in all areas of the operation
- Candidate must possess strong leadership skills paired with the ability to empathetically communicate with all guests and colleagues in the hotel
- Must have good organizational skills
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Fluent proficiency in English is a must
- Must have the flexibility in schedule depending on business needs
- The ability to inspire and support innovation as well as a passion for caring service should be your strength
